What is Ozone Therapy

Mar 25, 2019

A form of alternative medicine, ozone therapy introduces ozone into the body to disinfect and treat disease. Consisting of three oxygen atoms and otherwise known as O3 or  medical O3, ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent which in small dosages is thought to increase antioxidants in the body. Studied for more than a century since its discovery in the mid-19th century, the use of medical O3 has proven to be safe, effective, and has minimal side effects. While a gaseous state is its primary method of application, ozone therapy can also be administered as ozonized water via a spray or compress, as a liquid injected into the veins or under the skin, or through the blood, where a person’s blood is drawn, exposed to ozone, and re-injected into the body.
